非鉄金屬

非鉄金屬（ひてつきんぞく、non-ferrous metal）とは、鉄および鉄を主成分とした合金、つまり鉄鋼材料（ferrous metal）以外の金屬を指す。日本工業(yè)規(guī)格においては部門記號 H（非鉄金屬）に區(qū)分されている。

分類される理由

鉄鋼以外の金屬の生産総量が鉄鋼の生産量に比べ圧倒的に少ないため、あるいは、JISハンドブックの厚さでもわかるように、合金化による多様性のバリエーションが鉄鋼に比べ圧倒的にすくないため、非鉄金屬としてまとめられたものである。したがって、工業(yè)的観念ならびに経済観念からの分類にすぎず、それ以上の特別な意味はない。

科學的分類としてごくまれに使われる事もあるが、あくまでFe1元素以外の金屬元素を指す総稱であるため、煩雑になりすぎる事から、通常はこのような呼稱は用いられない。
