21日に京畿道利川の鉱物資源公社・希少金屬備蓄基地を訪ねた。倉庫の前には高さ80センチほどのドラム缶のような鉄筒が120個ほど置かれていた。鉄筒の中には鉄鋼材や半導(dǎo)體を作る際に混入されるモリブデンが入っていた。これは米國産モリブデン原石を産業(yè)用に加工したものだ。この日は30トンが搬入された。
レアメタルは、石炭や銅など一般鉱物とは異なり、産出量が少なく一部の國だけに埋蔵されている。情報産業(yè)（IT）から自動車、バイオ、航空、宇宙と數(shù)々の産業(yè)で中核素材として使用されていることから、「産業(yè)のビタミン」と呼ばれている。レアメタルの備蓄は同公社と調(diào)達(dá)庁が主に行っている。
■トン當(dāng)たり4000萬ウォン超
倉庫の中にはモリブデンやクロム、チタニウムなど6種類の鉱物が7206トン貯蔵されている。産出國が輸出を中斷した場合の備蓄用だ。
同公社の備蓄倉庫に最も多かったのはステンレスを使う際に使われるクロム（6436トン）だった。これらは主にインドとロシアから輸入したものだ。クロム倉庫は昨年初め、重さで地盤が崩れたことから補(bǔ)強(qiáng)工事をした。
ヤン・グァンソン流通事業(yè)チーム長は「世界経済の回復(fù)でレアメタルの価格が上昇傾向にある」と話した。鉄鋼添加剤のニオブはブラジルが世界の生産量の90％を占めており、現(xiàn)在の価格は、1トン當(dāng)たり4000萬ウォン（約300萬円）臺と今年初めの2倍に上昇した。
