Molybdenum market update on November 3, 2025
On Monday, the domestic molybdenum market overall continued its weak performance, primarily reflected in continued declines in most product prices, low enthusiasm among traders for market engagement, and limited actual transaction volumes. Among these, the prices of molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum, and ammonium heptamolybdate decreased by approximately RMB 20 per ton-unit, RMB 1,000 per ton, and RMB 2,000 per ton, respectively. Recently, steel enterprises bidding for ferromolybdenum include Shougang Guigang, Shandong Laiwu Steel, CITIC Pacific Special Steel, Jiangsu Yonggang, Ansteel, Delong Roll, Erzhong (Deyang) Heavy Equipment, Huaigang Special Steel, and Maanshan Iron & Steel, with bidding prices ranging from RMB 264,000 to RMB 269,000 per ton.
According to the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), in September 2025, China's steel exports totaled 10.465 million tons, increased by 10.0% month-on-month, with an average export price of USD 679.1 per ton, decreased by 2.7% month-on-month; steel imports totaled 548,000 tons, increased by 9.7% month-on-month, with an average import price of USD 1,623.1 per ton, decreased by 1.8% month-on-month. From January to September 2025, China cumulatively exported 87.955 million tons of steel, increased by 9.0% year-on-year, with an average export price of USD 696.7 per ton, decreased by 9.5% year-on-year; cumulatively imported 4.532 million tons of steel, decreased by 12.6% year-on-year, with an average import price of USD 1,692.3 per ton, increased by 1.1% year-on-year.
